This is a 3 session series designed to help you learn and use mindfulness meditation as a powerful tool to manage stress and create more well-being in your workplace.  These three sessions can be taken together or independently. Join us for 1, 2 or all 3 sessions!


Session 1: THE MIND @ WORK

Friday, March 27th 1-2:30

This session will provide an overview of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation.  Participants will learn formal and informal practices that can be used at home and in the workplace to help manage stress.

During this 90 minutes wellness session participants will:

  • Become familiar with mindfulness and mindfulness meditation
  • Practice formal breathing practices to help manage stress
  • Explore the neuroscience of mindfulness

    Session 2: MINDFUL COMMUNICATION

    Wednesday, April 8th, 1-2:30

    This session will focus on mindful communication in the workplace.  Mindful listening and speaking practices will be explored.  Participants will learn the benefits of increasing their social-emotional intelligence through mindfulness practices.

    During this 90 minutes wellness session participants will:

      • Become familiar with mindfulness and mindfulness meditation
      • Learn how increasing one’s social-emotional intelligence can help to create healthier work environments
      • Learn various mindful communication practices

        Session 3: THIS IS YOUR BRAIN AT WORK

        Tuesday, April 21st , 1-2:30

        Some say from now on it is will be “survival of the focused.”  This session will look at the research on the effects of mindfulness and concentration. We will explore mindfulness practices to increase our ability to self-regulate and become more resilient at home and work. The more present and relaxed we are at work the more we can help create an environment of calm.

         During this 90 minutes wellness session participants will:

        • Become familiar with mindfulness and mindfulness meditation
        • Practice mindfulness meditation to increase one’s ability to self-regulate
        • Learn practices to help increase focus and concentration
        • Learn how to weave mindfulness into everyday life
        • Discuss common challenges and obstacles associated with practicing meditation.

        Presenter

        Sarah Kinsley
        BA (Hons.), BEd (Primary), MEd (Counselling Psych.)

        Sarah Kinsley is a senior facilitator at Mindfulness Without Borders (MWB), a registered charitable organization that brings best practices in mindfulness and social-emotional learning to advance mental health and well-being in youth, their educators, school teams and health professionals.

        An experienced educator and child and family therapist, Sarah facilitates MWB councils with adults, youth and communities across Canada. At the University of Toronto, she coordinates the Embodied Mind stream in the Certificate of Applied Mindfulness Meditation at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work. She leads related workshops there as well as at Royal Roads University in British Columbia. Sarah has extensive training in mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) including mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) and is a facilitator and therapist at The Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto. She is a certified Yoga teacher and the author of “Yoga Therapy: Ancient therapy for Today’s Body, Mind and Spirit,” a textbook chapter used in counselling programs throughout North America.
