UTSC-Basic Principles of Supervision

Wednesday, May 30, 2012, 09:00am - 04:00pm

Supervision are an extremely important set of skills, especially since this part of the University is in closest contact with the people who interact with our customers, clients, students, patrons and both on-campus and off-campus stakeholders.

You will gain the practical know-how you need - and the confidence you want - to plan, organize, motivate, delegate and communicate in order to be an effective supervisor . You'll come away with a better understanding of how to best perform your supervisory responsibilities with a new set of real-life tools.

Workshop Topics include:

  • Increase awareness of your own work style and the styles of those around you
  • Stages of group development: goal setting and performance tracking techniques
  • Methods for influencing others, effective communication, and managing conflict
  • Case studies specific to a unionized work environment
  • Techniques for feedback and clarification
