Accessible Communications Workshop

Friday, February 02, 2018, 01:00pm - 04:00pm

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is a piece of legislation in the Province of Ontario aimed at making the places we work, live and learn as accessible as possible. This encompasses how we provide service, how we communicate and the spaces we create. All of us have responsibilities and all of us can make a difference.

This session will provide you with tips and resources to incorporate accessibility into your communications practices. We will discuss how to make your materials more accessible, the expectations found within the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation, web accessibility, and technologies that assist accessibility. Further, you will be able to identify accessibility initiatives at U of T and in your workplace. Time will be provided to incorporate what you learn into a document you are currently working on.

Bring an electronic copy of a document you are working on and together we’ll put the tips discussed into practice.

Location: 256 McCaul street, Room 109
Presenter: Ben Poynton, AODA Officer

Lake Porter, Adaptive Technology Specialist Tricia Kenderdine, Communications Coordinator
