The Academy of Well-Being: Making Sense of Mixed Health Messages in the Media

Friday, February 23, 2018, 12:00pm - 01:00pm

Every day we are bombarded with health messages in the media. These messages relate to all aspects of our life – our food and nutrition (e.g. coffee, meat, vitamins), our environment (e.g. air, water), and technology (e.g. wi-fi, cell phones) and can be confusing, often contradictory and in some cases downright misleading. As consumers of this information, we are challenged with trying to make sense of how these messages affect us and our families. Which health messages are important? How do we know the information is valid? Do you need to change based on this information?

This talk will cover the ins and outs of how to be a sophisticated consumer of health messages from the media and how to consider these messages in our day to day life.
