Self-Talk: A Key to Lasting Health and Fitness

Kathleen will define self-talk, explain why it is the key to health success, and outline actionable tricks and strategies for creating a healthier, more productive inner dialogue. Strategies include identifying your unique flavour of self-sabotage, fostering mindfulness, finding the hack that works for you, making choices as if for a loved one, and creating ready-to-go mantras (internal hashtags) such as #IamWorthyOfSelfCare, #TheWorseYourMoodTheMoreImportantTheWorkout, #PerfectionIsTheOppositeOfDONE and #blahblahblahGoWORKOUT

Kathleen Trotter, author of Finding Your Fit: A Compassionate Trainer’s Guide to Making Fitness a Lifelong Habit, is a motivational speaker, personal trainer, nutritionist, life coach, and fitness writer. She has made regular contributions to Huffington Post and the Globe and Mail, blogs for Flaman Fitness, and makes regular TV appearances including monthly segments on Breakfast Television Montreal and Daytime Ottawa. Recent presentation venues include Cisco Technology and a series of talks for the Toronto Public Library. Kathleen holds an M.Sc. from the University of Toronto and a nutrition diploma from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. She owns a personal training studio in Toronto.
