UTSC - Making Informed Choices: GMOs, Organic Food and Their Effects on Your Body and Health

This introductory talk will cover:

  • How to spot GMO foods
  • Nutrient content of GMOs vs. non-GMOs
  • The current science behind the effects of GMOs on the body
  • What the term organic really means
  • Nutrient content and the benefits of organic vs. non-organic food
  • Where and how to buy organic foods (if you have to choose, which foods are best to buy organic)



Eric Williamson has a Master’s Degree in Exercise Nutrition and Metabolism, is a Registered Dietitian, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Toronto.  He recently received the young investigator award at the annual American College of Sports Medicine conference for his contributions to the exercise and nutrition community.  Eric provides individual coaching and public speaking through his company, Unlocked Fitness and Nutrition ( to help people find the most effective nutrition strategies for their health and goals while balancing the many other important areas of their lives to achieve overall success and fulfillment.
